What We Do
Organizing is extremely important to the membership of Local 139. Our organization efforts increase our market share, which means increased bargaining strength.
We’re also politically involved. Much of the work Local 139 members perform consist of some level of government funding or government approval. We have developed an active political-action program of more than 500 members who regularly contact their elected officials on our behalf.

Working Together for Change
Whenever Local 139 has been an effective force, whether in organizing new contractors, collective bargaining, or in political action, it has come about as a result of members working actively together toward the same goal.
In the most recent past, we have had several dramatic victories: Protecting our interests in the state budget, protecting workers’ right to join a union, fighting a ban on project labor agreements, and negotiating new contracts in Wisconsin’s strong economy. Now we stand ready to do more.
