We congratulate the accomplished students who were awarded our Local 139 scholarships. This year, we had a total of eighty-six applications. Sixteen scholarships were chosen based on:

• Leadership as demonstrated in school and civic activities
• Extra-curricular participation
• Academic achievement
• Motivation to serve others
• One’s success in setting goals and striving to achieve them

Each scholarship totals $1,500 and is funded primarily by cash draws from union meetings around the state. The scholarships are awarded to pay for the education of children, grandchildren, and spouses of Local 139 members. Checks are made out the recipients college or vocational school.
