Local 139 Quilting Group Uses Annual Picnic For Good Cause
Early in the morning, before the Local 139 Annual Picnic at the Training Center in Coloma, quilters gather together to begin making quilts. Volunteers bring their sewing machines, needles and thread. The fabric is selected by Bonnie Sperberg, wife of Vice President/Training Director Dan Sperberg. Bonnie coordinated the group back in 2014 and it’s been growing every year.
The quilts they make are generously donated to children in need at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Campus. This year the group made 7 toddler quilts along with 19 preemie quilts and a bunch of partials to be finished. Such a tremendous accomplishment by the quilters this year!
